EXCELLENT conditions marked the heats today of the Monsoon Riders surf title at Kalim Bay, with competitors catching good waves and impressing the judges.

One heat of the juniors was the showpiece for a 10-yearold girl, who produced her board best, winning the applause of the crowd on the shore.

The final day of surfing is on Sunday, with competition brought forward an hour to begin at 8am.

The event will wrap up with an awards party on Sunday night from 7pm to 11pm at the Jungceylon Shopping Center in Patong.

The evening's agenda will include a live band, Thai dancing, dinner, the awards presentation and a fashion show.

Trophies, cash and non-cash prizes will be awarded to the top four finalists in each of four divisions.

Two more surfing titles are to be held on Phuket this monsoon season as part of the Quiksilver Thailand Surf Series, and the second Phuket surf lifesaving carnival is set for mid-July on Patong beach.
