A WOMAN who was nabbed by police at Tachachai Checkpoint coming to Phuket today was found to have 8.48 grams of yah ice methamphetamine in her brassiere.

Oranuch Sripathuam, 24, told officers about 9.45am that floods in her home province of Suphanburi, near Bangkok, had forced her to drive her car south to Phuket, seeking work.

Her arrest and confession was preceded at 5am by the arrest of Pinit Pord-On and Chatpatakrit Tong-Ann, when 3.7 grams of yah ice was found hidden in a tail light of their vehicle.
The men said they had borrowed the car to come to Phuket and had no knowledge of how the yah ice came to be there.

Police released figures today that showed 160 arrests for drug crimes between October 1 and October 22 on Phuket compared to 269 for the same period last year. The vast majority of arrests came in Phuket City, which reported 103 arrests compared to 199 in the equivalent period last year.
