Dismal clouds over Patong as storms sweep across Phuket

Wild Weekend Storms to Strike Phuket, All of Andaman

Friday, July 6, 2012
PHUKET: A weekend washout is being predicted for Phuket and five nearby provinces as storms are tipped to keep hitting the Andaman holiday coast.

In a warning updated at 4.30pm on Friday, the Thai Meteorological Office said Phuket, Phang Nga, Ranong, Krabi, Trang and Satun all faced the risk of floods and landslips.

The likelihood of rain on Saturday and Sunday was 60 percent to 80 percent, with winds up to 35 kmh and waves up to three metres.

Small boats have been advised not to put to sea. The longer the rain continues, the greater the concerns about landslips.

Sitting in our hotel room waiting for flight off the island on Monday. Never seen rain like it. Hoped for 9 days of sun on way to Europe, but it's rained almost every minute of our stay here. :((
