PHUKET: Stormy weather and the possibility of floods and landslips are being forecast for Phuket from today until Friday, according to meteorologists, as the monsoon arrives with Typhoon Kalmaegi in pursuit.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation fears a prolonged dousing of Phuket hillsides could leads to flooding and landslips.
Small boats are being warned not to put to sea, with waves of two to three metres likely and winds that could possibly blow at up to 40kmh.
There's a 70-80 percent chance of precipitation across Phuket, Krabi, Phang Nga and other Andaman provinces. Conditions should improve on Saturday, forecasters predict.
