Praphan Aupan, 26, was arrested in his rented room on Soi Nanai about 8pm and later confessed to the theft from a room at the Brother Residence nearby, Lieutenant Tammasan Boonsong of Patong's Kathu station told Phuketwan today.
The theft on April 9 had been preceded by other thefts from guesthouses without security cameras on April 6 and April 7, Lieutenant Tammasan said.
Items stolen included a computer notebook, a pearl necklace, a DVD player and a pair of sneakers. Khun Aupan entered the Brother Residence through a rear entrance.
He is being held in the Patong police cells and will transferred to crowded Phuket prison tomorrow.
