GREEN is likely to be Phuket's favorite color this Valentine's Day as the plan to eradicate plastic from the island finds a base for activities at Central Festival shopping mall.
Over three days from February 13, Phuket's residents and tourists will be invited to ''Keep Phuket Green'' with a series of shows, events and talks.
About 60 exhibitors will be involved in a special display area that will run from 2-6pm daily. Reduce Reuse Recycle . . . and Responsibility . . . will be the themes.
Several retailers will promote environmentally friendly products including BIO-D bags ahead of the two baht per plastic bag charge across major retailers on Phuket that is about to come into effect.
The booths are set up in the old Phuja area, opposite Starbucks.
Organisers are urging visitors to bring 10 plastic bags and trade them in for a reusable bag at the event.
Sunday February 14 will bring the formal launch of Governor Wichai Praisa-ngob's waste reduction strategy at 4pm.
