The Light will definitely be seen on Phuket come 2012

Phuket City to See The Light and 186 Condos

Wednesday, February 10, 2010
MORE evidence of Phuket's present and future as a city comes with the announcement of construction of a 16-storey block of 186 condominiums, to be sold off the plan.

The Light will tower over a two rai block near Suanluang public park in southern Phuket City at a cost of 400 million baht or more.

The condos cost between 1.3 million baht for a studio apartment and 7.6 million for a two-bedroom spread near the top. Prices are current until March 31, developers say.

The project is designed for a mixture of locals, investors and expats. Phuket Living Company CEO Supakorn Boonyajorn says they expect to have 50 percent Phuket buyers, 15-20 percent expats, with Thai investors taking out the rest.

Counting the block at 16 storeys takes in 15 for parking, entertainment and accommodation and the rooftop, which is being presented as a combination of a garden area and a helicopter pad.

Helicopters seem to be a fixture of some projects before they lift off the drawing board on Phuket.

The last helicopter rooftop project, envisaged for a Patong property, turned into a more practical rooftop dining area and swimming pool.

The Light has three elevators, its own generator for emergencies, and is being promoted as offering views from every property.

Fittings are built-in, and the style, judging from the showcase apartment near the projected site, will be clean and modern.

Parking on two floors is planned to cater for 250-300 vehicles.

The third floor will contain the community swimming pool, a large kids' pool and a fitness centre.

Construction is expected to be finished by December 2011.

Tee hee!

Editor: The articles were written by different authors. It's a little difficult to understand your point, or even whether there is any point at all. . .

how come you have photos of something that hasn't been built yet?

Editor: There's a model and a display apartment. Most developments use sophisticated computer graphics these days to convey the impression of what unbuilt structures will look like.

Oh great, one more tacky white square building, one more massive energy consumer, more trash, more traffic, more people, etc. Doesn't anyone consider the carrying capacity of this island? When will the quality of life and health of the environment be taken into account? (Rhetorical question)
