PHUKET: Large chunks of Nai Yang beach continue to vanish under constant erosion by the sea, officials were told on Phuket yesterday.
Specialists with the Forests Department were with the Interior Ministry's consultant, Woodtipong Chaisang, when he saw the erosion at the beach yesterday.
Most of the worst damage comes at the section of beach where Sirinath National Park fronts the sea.
A team of academics is likely to examine solutions. The beach has been disappearing since the phenomenon was first noted in 1981.
