Beautiful Khuk Khak beach, home to several luxury resorts

Danish Tourist Drowns at Beach North of Phuket

Monday, March 5, 2012
PHUKET: A Danish tourist drowned off an Andaman coast beach in Phang Nga, north of Phuket, yesterday, say local officials.

The man, aged 74, died despite getting assistance from a resort lifeguard.

It is believed the drowning took place at Khuk Khak beach, north of the township of Khao Lak, about 1.30pm.

Phuketwan has been given a name but is not identifying the man until we are sure that relatives have been informed.

Several five-star resorts front Khuk Khak beach.

I am not familiar with this beach ... but I do know that there are some beaches on the west coast which slope very steeply & quickly into deep water. These are not suited for weak or non swimmers & warnings should be posted, just as rip tide warnings are beginning to appear on the better known beaches.
