Phuket Yacht Blazes Suspiciously: Spectacular Photos

Sunday, May 15, 2011
Today's Phuket Updating Report

A LARGE yacht burned and sank in spectacular fashion off Chalong Pier on Phuket's east coast last night. Crowds watched from shore as the boat blazed.

Today, there was no sign of wreckage. First reports said the yacht was the Gaudi.

Police at Phuket's Chalong station, a few hundred metres from the pier, were waiting to hear from the yacht's owner.

At least two owners of yachts moored off Phuket's popular Chalong pier have offered rewards lately after a spate of as many as 12 thefts from vessels.

@ Michael....and how much do you pay for anchoring in Chalong Bay (Nothing) boats should be attended or in a Marina

All boat owners, Thais and foreigners alike would be happy to have a marina for yachting as well for professional diving and tour boats in Chalong Bay.
Boat Lagoon Marina, Ao Por Marina and Yacht Haven Marina are too far for diving tours which are going to Racha Yai Islands, Shark Point area (Koh Doc Mai, Shark Point, Anemone Reef and King Cruiser Wreck) and Phi-Phi Islands.
All plans to have one were opposed by OrBorTor Chalong and Rawai and OrBorJor Phuket as well the Ministry of Coastal Environment.
