The lifeless form of step-brother Yodthing Pinchit is carried away

Patong 'Suicide' a Murder as Brothers Fall Out

Sunday, May 15, 2011
A GUNSHOT disturbed the peace of Patong yesterday morning. Residents of a foothills area off Prabaramee Road feared the worst, and one called police.

Officers from Kathu police station found the body of a man, with a homemade five-shot thai pradit gun in his hand. But they determined it to be a murder, not a suicide.

Police throughout Phuket and beyond are now looking for Monti Pitdoo, 35. It was his step-brother Yodthing Pinchit, 34, who was found dead about 9.30am yesterday.

According to Patong police, Khun Monti sold a patch of land in Patong for two million baht earlier this year, spent some of the money on the gun, and was known to fire it regularly in the evenings while drinking.

But residents knew that a shot fired early in the day meant trouble.

Police believe the step-brothers had a fatal falling out, but only when Khun Monti is in custody is the complete story likely to be aired.

Officers expect that without an ID card, left behind in his rush to flee, Khun Monti is expected to quickly encounter difficulties wherever he runs.
