Phuket Tourist Dies in Naked Fall at Patong Resort

Wednesday, May 6, 2015
PHUKET: A South African tourist died when he toppled forward and hit his head in the bathroom of a Patong resort on the Thai holiday island of Phuket yesterday.

Maids at the resort noticed the man had not left his room yesterday and checked around 8.30pm.

They found the man naked, face-down on the bathroom floor, near the toilet.

He probably died from the blow when his head hit the floor, according to paramedics and investigating officers from Kathu Police Station.

Police believe there were no suspicious circumstances. Paramedics estimated he had been dead for about five hours.

The man, aged 41, was travelling alone. He checked in at the Prabaramee Road resort on April 28 and was due to leave on May 6.

Phuketwan has his name but will not publish it until we can be sure relatives have been notified.

His body was taken to Patong Hospital.

The ever scintillating PW deems the man's nakedness so critical to the story that it features in the headline???. Jeeesh!

We were all born naked, Matt. Get over it.

About time they made it compulsory to use not slip tiles in bathrooms in Phuket
The smooth tiles they use in the majority of bathrooms here are like walking on ice when wet, a accident waiting to happen

This type of accident is not uncommon, and it seems also here in Phuket. A friend recently had a coughing fit so severe he passed out. When he (fortunately) woke up face down on the bathroom tiled floor lying in his own blood all four of his front incisors missing. He wasn't sure how long he was unconscious.

@Peter Allen: slippery tiles? Try walking along the pavement in Dibuk Road, Phuket town after rain.

Some banks even put decorative but slippery tiles outside their palaces. Deadly when wet.
