PHUKET: Two Burmese out for a stroll in a quiet Phuket street were robbed at knifepoint yesterday by three men who sped off on a motorcycle.
Yao, 20, and Ani, 27, later told police that the men who produced the knife took 2000 baht in cash, a mobile telephone valued at 3500 baht and their NCPO-approved work approval cards.
''They were very quick,'' Ani said. ''When the knife appeared, we were scared.'' The men were about one kilometre from their construction camp.
Two of the robbers alighted from the blue Honda Wave in a quiet soi in Phuket's Srisoonthorn district about 4pm, Ani said. The pair were strolling to Thepkasattri Road to catch a seung teaw to the SuperCheap store.
Investigating officers from Thalang Police Station have no security camera footage and the Honda carried no numberplates.
