The gang - two 15-year-olds, two 16-year-olds and a 17-year-old - committed the motorcycle snatch robberies on tourists as they walked the streets of Phuket's popular west coast holiday destinations, Patong, Kata and Karon at night.
The ''Evil Gang'' ( Gang Plakarb) worked under the direction of Prasit Boonyok, 20, police told reporters when the gang were presented at Kathu Police Station in Patong today.
Between 30 and 40 tourists were targetted, and their stolen goods were sold to Kitti Kapirat, 28, at the Delta Shop in the Bg C Supermarket complex in Phuket City, police said.
Khun Kitti was also arrested. Police are still looking for one underage culprit, who fled back to his home province of Satun before officers could nab him.
Gang members were distinguished by an ''Evil Gang'' tattoo on their shoulders.
Since the arrests several days ago, police have mamaged to contact 17 victims of the gang, police said.
Heading the media presentation today were Phuket Provincial Deputy Police Commander Colonel Peerayut Karajedee and Patong's new Police Superintendent Colonel Sermphan Sirikong.
Four other alleged criminals, charged over possesion of illegal drugs, were presented with the seven gang members and their alleged fence.
There has not been anything in the news about tourists being robbed. Phuket self-censorship?
