PHUKET police have nabbed a ladyboy katoey they say picked the wallet of a French tourist on Monday night and is probably guilty of other thefts as well.
Frenchman Bruno Bochiro, 38, told officers at Patong's Kathu Police Station that his wallet was picked from the pocket of his shorts as he strolled along Rat-U-Tit 200 Pi in Patong about 7.20pm last night.
At the station he was able to identify the likely culprit from police mug shots of Patong's katoey denizens.
An arrest came later last night when alert police spied Thanapat ''Jenny'' Lardkeaw, 22, entering a gold shop. Officers retrieved 18,900 baht in cash and Mr Bochiro's wallet and five credit cards from Khun Jenny's bag.
At Khun Jenny's apartment, police found a computer notebook, expensive brand sunglasses, a mobile telephone, a CD player and other items they believe may have been stolen.
Investigations are continuing.
