Wiruj ''Beer'' Sudtua, 26, was ambitious and the leading henchman for a Patong businessman who had both legal and illegal dealings, officers at Thung Tong Police Station said.
Then along came Pornsak ''Jame'' Thongbaiyai, who also hailed from the province of Nakkorn Sri Thammarat.
Ambition drove the two to heated arguments that escalated until on April 15, Khun Beer caught up with Khun Jame at 3.30am at a house off Wichit Songkram Road and pumped five bullets into him.
Khun Beer, who confessed to the killing, was caught on Wednesday selling fish at his mother's market stall in Nakkorn Sri Thammarat.
A second man, Eakkapab Thaisuwan, is wanted in connection with the killing, but Khun Beer said it was entirely his doing.
