SONGSTRESS Tata Young had one other secret reason for wanting to appear at Phuket's Love Aid concert for Japan - a new boyfriend who is part-Japanese.

The concert is now on hold, postponed because of Phuket's uncertain weather. But the singer's new romance, according to observers, is going strong.

Little is known about Ms Young's new man, except his first name is Uke, and he's apparently a steadying influence in the 30-year-old singer's life.

Ms Young has said that Uke was a boy friend who became a boyfriend. The couple had known each other for six years, since they studied overseas together, she said.

They were photographed together at a Fashion Week outing at Siam Paragon in Bangkok on Saturday.

Real name Amita Marie Yang, Miss Young has been a singing sensation since winning a competitition at the age of 11. She now appears to be living out the title of her latest album, 'Ready for Love.'

She's made a total of eight albums so far, three in English and five in Thai.

The diva is a regular visitor to Phuket, and a frequent performer on the island. She was happy to perform at the concert for no fee because the father of a good friend was killed in the 2004 tsunami that struck Phuket and the Andaman region.

Organisers of Saturday's concert said they were forced to postpone Love Aid Phuket because of the likelihood of abysmal weather continuing through the weekend, which could have marred the outdoor concert and prevented Phuket from demonstrating its support for Japan.

It is to be hoped that the concert proceeds at a future date, with Miss Young as a headline act.
