Monday, September 3, 2012
UPDATE

Would-be jumper Sathian Promsang climbed down after 90 minutes when told by mobile telephone that his father-in-law would try to put him in touch with his wife, Surattana, and their three children. Khun Sathian, from Trang, had come to Phuket to find his wife. He was escorted to Vachira Phuket Hospital.

Original Report

PHUKET: A man has climbed one of Phuket's largest billboards at one of Phuket's busiest intersections and is threatening to jump this afernoon.

Police have redirected traffic at the Central Festival intersection and are trying to talk the man down. The billboard is diagonally opposite the large shopping complex.

An inflatable device is being prepared to try to save the man if he decides to jump. The drama began about 1.10pm and bypassers who saw the man on top of the billboard alerted police.

The billboard is for the Brand health drink. Onlookers are watching from Central Festival and from footpaths around the intersection.

Is it an extra advertising to support the one on the billboard?

Glad the signboard is for Brand health drink and not for Nike shoes. Their motto may just help him decide?

Glad to see from the photos that the guy is now back on earth and that somebody is helping him deal with whatever it is he has to deal with. Glad this story had a happy ending.
