The body of the 80-year-old man was found at an apartment in Andaman Hill Village, off Patong's Prabaramee Road, about 9.30pm last night.
It's believed the man suffered from several ailments and was overdue for appointments at a Phuket City hospital.
Paramedics believe his death was natural as a result of advanced age. The man's body was taken to Patong Hospital.
Phuketwan has been supplied with the American's name but will refrain from publishing it until relatives have been notified.
Why would you need / want to report the name?
Why is this news?
Maybe the family would just like some privacy. As in, there is no need at all to report anything.
I am sure that Thai's pass away every day and it probably isn't reported in the Thai paper unless there is an obituary section.
Maybe you should start one, to help protect family's privacy and it would be there for any morbidly curious people who want to know if other people died.
This website is going downhill faster than Phuket's red mud.

Curious, you seem to not understand that unless Phuketwan reports the deaths of expats and names them where possible, the scaremongers in the expat community who thrive on creating fear in the void of ignorance take over. Countries with international standards explain who died, and what caused their deaths, whenever possible. If you don't understand that, perhaps you're not really Curious after all. Pathetic jibes are another waste of your time and mine.
