AN ALLEGED Patong drug dealer who fired a shot as he fled Phuket police at the weekend later surrendered and is likely to be charged with attempting to kill an officer, police said today.

Police were closing in to surround Patsaworn ''Mo'' Tubtimtong, 23, at a house in Kathu when a woman opened the door and called out: ''Police coming!''

Khun Mo fired a shot from a handgun as he fled the house in darkness about 4.20am yesterday, police said.

After police visited the home of his parents, Khun Mo surrendered to officers at Tungtong Police Station today.

Officers said they found yah ice, yah ba (methamphentamine) and drug-taking paraphernalia, plus cell phones and bullets, at the house.

Police say that Khun Mo will be charged with dealing in drugs and is also likely to face a count of attempted murder of a police officer.

In another bust, Phuket City police arrested seven men in a soi near the bypass road about 6.50pm yesterday. The men confessed to being dealers and had in their possession yah ba, Katom leaves, (a banned natural drug) and three packs of marijuana.

An eighth man was arrested in Phuket City about 7pm.
