PHUKET: A large crane blocked traffic on Patong Hill tonight after a mishap involving powerlines that saw the crane swing across the road.
Rescue workers were trying to point the crane in the right direction after 8pm, with traffic partially blocked for at least 90 minutes already.
Police from Patong confirmed they were having problems clearing the road but were unable to explain how it came to be blocked.
The crane ran sideways, close to the Patong City sign, with only the observations of the reader who took the photographs as a guide to what happened.
He wrote: ''Short power cut and a bang, later smoke from the hill.
''Riding on my motorbike I saw this truck crossing the road and people with fire extingushers at the Patong city monument.''
We'll update once there is a more comprehensive explanation.
