"BBC Radio 4 broadcaster Jenni Murray has recommended Thailand as her top holiday destination."

She's 61 years old. I wonder what she does in Bangkok that she can't do in the UK?

Are you dabbling in ageism or sexism or both, Mike? Some people actually come to Thailand for the sights and the culture. She prefers Bangkok to Blackpool. Nought wrong wi' that.

LOL.. Come to "Thailand for the sights and the culture"??? I thought that a country like Italy would be much better and much closer, wouldn't it?? May be I wrong...

Sexism, ageism, and now cultural imperialism. Yes, we've got the lot.

In my line of work the company i work for bring many groups that are doing round trips with the focus being on history, culture and nature. And the age of our customers are usually 50+. And its the same for every other tour company I encounter during these 1 to 2 week long round trips. And yes, we usually start in Bangkok for the one heading north or in Phuket for the southern round trips.

Well, Mrs. Murray stayed at 5 Star hotel suites while in Thailand. I wonder how much in touch with reality can one get from a penthouse jacuzzi ?

If you only stay in 5 hotel suites, even Kabul or Lagos will feel like paradise.

Five-star guests do everything everybody else does: eat, sleep, and fill the spaces in between. Some people even save all year for their holiday.

@Ed: Yes, both ageism and sexism, but hopefully made a few people chuckle.

I once came for the sights and culture, but then the hotel limo driver kept asking: "You want lady now?"

And that was my downfall.
