Supada Tonsuwan, 29, celebrated his release from prison in Songkhla and hastened to catch up with his girlfriend on Phuket.
Yesterday about noon he tried to snatch the bag of Yuwannadha Sanprom, 38, in Vichitsongkran Road, central Phuket. She fought back and was slightly injured, but kept her possessions.
Frustrated, Khun Supada staged a second bag-snatch not far from the first attempt, grabbing the bag belonging to Sasiwimon Peachlerm, 22. He rode off with the bag, which contained her Samsung Galaxy and Apple iPhone.
Khun Sasiwimon told Tungthong police that the iPhone could be tracked. Sure enough, police were able to arrest Khun Supada in a rented apartment in Patong after Khun Sasiwimon spotted her attacker's red and black Scoopi motorcycle outside.
Khun Supada confessed and was in tears on the telephone - not the one belonging to Khun Sasiwimon - telling a cousin how his return to bag-snatching had speedily come unstuck.
Not just Iphones but I think that any Android phone (Galaxy) etc can be traced but you must set it up using a google mail account. It works globally and well worth doing. I had my phone stolen by a hotel I was staying in Bali. I think that the penalty if a man steals with violence by snatching from a woman there should be harsher sentences than man to man. Cowards pick on woman as they are smaller.
