PHUKET: Arson was initially suspected as the cause of a blaze that badly damaged a bar in Patong early today.
However, after looking at the debris, firemen said it appeared to be more likely the cause was an electrical fault.
The Blarney Stone in Soi Sansabai, which is the extension of Patong's famous Soi Bangla walking street, was spotted ablaze about 7.30am.
One firetruck and two water trucks took about 15 minutes to control the blaze.
The owners, an expat and his wife, were reported to be not on Phuket so Patong police were hesitant to estimate damage.
