Original Report
PHUKET: Two members of a family have been killed in a high-speed car crash this afternoon north of Phuket in the neighboring province of Phang Nga.
Four more family members, two of them children, are being treated for injuries in Phang Nga Hospital after the vehicle shattered against a tree.
Survivors had to be cut free by use of the ''jaws of life.''
Police were initially at a loss to explain a cause of the crash, which took place on a straight stretch of road not far from Phang Nga Town about 3.15pm.
Officers said the Toyota Corolla Altis, fitted with Surat Thani plates, was probably heading for Phuket or Phang Nga.
The driver, a man, was killed in the crash, along with his mother-in-law, police said.
Their bodies were taken to the same hospital where survivors were being treated.
