THE BODY of an expat man has been found in the sea at Phi Phi - with a broken neck and showing signs of battery with a blunt object, say doctors who performed an initial examination.
The body of the man was found in Tonsai Bay about 5pm yesterday, dressed only in a pair of shorts.
An initial examination revealed that his neck had been broken, and that he had been struck with a blunt instrument. It is believed the man, aged 35, had been in the water for three days, police said.
The man is a Swiss national. Phuketwan has his name but is withholding publication until relatives have been informed.
His body has been carried from Phi Phi to the mainland and is now in Krabi Hospital. Police from the mainland were on their way to Phi Phi today to begin an investigation.
Phi Phi has a growing reputation for unrestrained night life and beach bars where violence is more common now than it was before the 2004 tsunami.
