PHUKET: Australians haven't exactly been winning the hearts of residents or tourists in Patong lately.
In January, a couple of Australians fired shots at what they thought was a Danish man who owed them money, and winged two German tourists by mistake.
Then two drunk Aussies insulted patrons in the Kangaroo Bar and ended up with a broken leg and a badly smashed eye for their rudeness.
Bob and Daphne Lupton, from Sydney, have turned the tables.
Usually the heart-warming stories that surface on Phuket deal with taxi drivers or tuk-tuk drivers finding vast sums of money in their vehicles and returning the cash to delighted tourists.
This time, tourists Bob and Daphne found a wallet containing more than 4000 baht and, with the help of Patong's Tourist Police volunteers, managed to find its owner.
Nathaporn Thongchumnum and her friend were extremely grateful and can vouch for the kindness of everyday Aussie tourists.
Khun Nathaporn gave Bob and Daphne a photo album to remember their stay in Thailand.

Not fair to Aussies to compare them to Tuk TUk drivers. lol
I had a similar experience the other day after picking up my new green book for my Ninja. On the ride home I was gutted to discover it had fallen out of my pocket just as the big storm arrived. I thought for sure that a pile of soggy, mashed up paper is all that was left of it. Shortly thereafter I received a call from a Thai man that had picked it up in Phuket Town. He had actually called the Kawasaki show room and got my number from them. He returned the book to me in perfect condition, even wrapped in a plastic bag to keep it dry! Thank You Kun Gob!!
