UPDATE
PHUKET POLICE are hunting an acid attacker or a gang believed to be responsible for scarring at least four expensive vehicles early today and one late last night.
They think the attacker or attackers may have also been responsible for a fire that appeared to be arson in a vehicle in the the same region of Phuket City several days ago.
Owners of a BMW, two Toyota VIOS and a fourth car have told police their vehicles were scarred between 12.30am and 12.45am today, around Patipat Road, which runs from Maeluan Road in Phuket City, south towards Chalong.
Earlier, a lawyer reported an attack on his vehicle yesterday evening. Police are now concluding that the five vehicles were probably all attacked by the same person or persons.
Original Report
A WELL-KNOWN Phuket lawyer has told police that he believes his car has been subjected to an acid attack.
Siripong Luaichawee, who deals exclusively with expat cases, is based in Phuket City and is a former deputy president of the Phuket Chamber of Commerce.
He told Phuket City police today that he noticed the acid burn on his car about 10.55pm last night, after parking the vehicle outside his office in Satun Road.
Khun Siripong said he had no conflicts that he was aware of, but the acid burn to the car could be a sign that he has unknowingly upset someone.
The acid severely damaged one panel of his Honda CRV.
