FORMER captain of the Australian women's national cricket team Karen Rolton and ex Australian Test cricketer Trevor Chappell return to Phuket this week for the eighth annual Phuket International Cricket Sixes taking place at Karon Stadium, Phuket, from April 14-17.
Karen, who represented Australia in 14 Tests and 141 ODIs, won two World Cups, and was Australia's women's player of the year a record four times, made her debut at the Phuket Sixes in 2010 and is looking forward to this year's tournament.
"I loved my first taste of the Phuket Sixes last year. It really is 'fun in the sun' and much more!" she said today.
Trevor Chappell, one of the three legendary Chappell brothers who all represented their country, has played in every Phuket Sixes since the first tournament in 2004.
"I've never missed a Phuket Sixes and really look forward to it every year. The camaraderie at the tournament is fantastic," he said today.
Trevor, 58, played in 3 Tests and 20 ODIs for Australia, with a high score of 110 versus India.
Twenty-five teams from around the world will participate in the 2011 Phuket International Cricket Sixes, the eighth staging of this ICC award-winning tournament.
Matches, using the exciting sixes cricket format, will be played from Thursday to Sunday at Karon Stadium.
Teams and participants also enjoy a full schedule of functions and activities around the tournament including a popular Beach Cricket tournament, T20 Floodlit Charity match, Welcome Party and Gala Awards Dinner.
