PHUKET: Phuket and 14 other provinces have been warned of heavy rain and the potential for landslips from Saturday until next Tuesday.
Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang and Ranong can expect heavy rain, the Director of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Wiboon Sanuaipong, said this afternoon.
Local Phuket authorities are expected to deliver the warning across the island, especially to construction sites where most slips have occurred in the past with fatal consequences.
A helpline for Phuket and the other provinces has been established on 1784.
Small boats in Phuket have been advised not venture out, with seas up to two metres and winds of 15-35 kmh expected.
Storms are expected over 80 percent of Phuket, where heavy rain has been falling consistently in some parts of Phuket since Wednesday.
