Associated Press An anchored boat packed with sleeping travellers sank in Vietnam's scenic Ha Long Bay, killing 12 people from nine countries in the deadliest tour boat accident since the country opened to foreign visitors 25 years ago.

telegraph.co.uk Two Swedish women in their early 20s and a British tourist were among the 12 killed after their tour boat sank during the night in Vietnam's picturesque Ha Long Bay. Twenty seven people were on the boat when it went down.

afp Thailand will hold a general election by the middle of this year, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said, setting the stage for a fierce poll battle in the politically divided nation. "I guarantee that it will happen before June," he told reporters when asked about the timing of the vote.

Phuket Update Graders have almost completed razing a grove of rubber trees ready for building the large new Tesco-Lotus store, close to the Bang Tao-Surin turnoff in Thepkasattri Road, Thalang. The store is expected to be of a similar size to the existing one in Phuket City.
