Swedish Tourist Dies After Revival Bid on Phuket Beach

AN ELDERLY Swedish tourist died in Patong Hospital today despite efforts to resuscitate her on the beach at Kata. She had been pulled from the water after collapsing in the shallows.

Viroj Taodam, a stafffer with the Karon tessaban council, responded to am emergency call about 11.30am and administered cpr on the 80-year-old woman on the sand outside Mom Tri's Boathouse, at the southern end of Kata beach.

''Her pulse was still there but faint,'' Khun Viroj said. ''We kept up the cpr until an ambulance arrived.''

Phuketwan has been given the name of the Swedish woman but will withhold it until relatives have been notified.
