PHUKET: Two European families with young children were stranded on a desolate island off mainland Krabi tonight when strong winds prevented them from safely returning after an outing.
The winds are likely to continue to cause problems, say forecasters.
The families -- four adults and three children -- were stuck on Pai island, which is in a national park, but being assisted by park rangers and officers from Krabi's Chao Fa Rescue Centre.
The tourist group went on a snorkelling day-trip to Pai from Jam island, where they were staying, but the strong winds prevented their longtail from making the return trip.
