The newlyweds enjoyed three days of bliss before they died on Samui

Samui Honeymoon Tragedy as World Ends for Chinese Bride and Groom

Saturday, December 22, 2012
A HONEYMOONING couple from China have died in a tragic catastrophe on the Thai holiday island of Samui.

Three days of bliss ended in the deaths of the newlywed pair yesterday when their plan to take photos of their honeymoon adventure went horribly wrong.

The pair were at Hin Ta and Hin Yai, a popular Samui headland rock landmark that resembles male and female reproductive organs, about 1pm.

Moving back to take a better photograph of her husband, bride Su Hui, 28, miscalculated and slipped.

She plunged from the rocks into the water below, Samui police said.

Husband Wang Jin Wei, 31, did not hesitate. He leapt from the rocks into the water, hoping to rescue his bride.

It was the day the Mayans thought the world would end and for the newlyweds, the prophecy proved sadly true.

Other tourists who had gone to the Samui headland to enjoy the ribald rocks saw what had happened and quickly alerted local authorities.

The body of Jin Wei was found soon after, in the sea below Hin Ta and Hin Yai.

About 3.30pm today, the body of Su Hui washed up on Baan Huatanon Beach nearby. The couple were reunited in death.

Most tragic thing I've ever heard. People wait most their lives to Love & Marry. I feel bad for the couple.
I have to wish there is an after life for people like this.

This was a tragedy, but an avoidable tragedy, and the Samui authorities should take the necessary steps to ensure that it cannot re-occur. I do not know this popular landmark, but clearly there is a level of danger for tourists and that danger should be minimised by erecting some form of safety barrier and multi-lingual warning signs.
