The bullet hole in the rear of the Phuket vehicle

UPDATE Russian Shot in Stomach While Riding in Car on Phuket

UPDATING All Day, Every Day

Well-informed sources have told Phuketwan that the bullet entered through the back of the vehicle, went through the passenger in the back seat, then hit the front seat before falling to the floor. All three men in the car were doctors. They realised what had happened and sped to hospital.

Original Report

PHUKET: A Russian man was shot in the stomach while riding in the back seat of a car along Rawai beach road last night, police have been told.

Surgeons operated on the man at Phuket International Hospital in Phuket City overnight and he appears to be recovering because no vital organs were struck.

Investigations into the shooting are continuing, with a bullet hole plainly evident in the rear of a white Toyota Vios that had been hired by Maxim Gradnkov, 32, and two friends.

The friends told Tourist Police that they ended up a pizza dinner about 10pm last night in Rawai and were driving away when they noticed a couple of men weaving along the road on a motorcycle.

As they drove past the motorcycle, they heard what sounded like a shot. Soon after, Maxim, who was seated in the rear of the car, noticed he had been shot.

A police investigation is underway. The hole in the back of the car appears to be where the bullet exited.

No mention of a bullet entry hole into the car, Strong enough shot to go through "Ivanov" in through stomache and exit car. Wonder if the shot did not come from inside the car? Only asking ok?

This is a story where the outcome will the opposite of that expected.

Lets start; the exit hole is clearly perpendicular to the alignment of the rear panel. The paint has pealed away consistent to the alignment of the hole. The caliber of the bullet is small, probably not much bigger than a 22.

They say possibly fired from a motor cycle, so I doubt was from a rifle, therefore a hand gun and minimal velocity.

So it's entered the torso and exited through the rear metal panel. No apparent distortion to the to the projectile either before or after exiting the torso so must have been thought the side of the stomach, therefore missing organs.

No mention of an entrance hole in the vehicle.

Obvious answer: Was fired from a passenger or driver in the front seat, either intentionally or unintentionally and the motor cycle is just to cover up what happened !!

Definitely either .38 Special or 9mm. No way a .22.

Adding, could also be a .357 Magnum round, or a .45 ACP. Common ones here.
NOw I think the real picture is, shot fined in car, motorbike outside normal, driver got a fright and their car was weaving. Check the occupants for powder residue on their hands? That should put the picture straight.

What a ignorant comments by some people here ! Not one word of heartfelt symphaties for the person who got shot in the stomach , Obiously the only reason is because the person is Russian ?! "Only asking ok" Mr. Robin

This looks like the bullets entry into the car to me. Metal deformed to the inside. Only the paint the other way, but that would be normal. At least judging from the pictures.

@ Anonymous on August 19, 2013 01:17. Until we see pictures of the bullet entry hole, no sympathies forthcoming. The driver or the person in the right hand back seat have to be checked for powder residue on their hands. As for nationality, colour, sex or creed, makes no difference to me. No anti Russian sentiment expressed nor implied. Being shot by one of your "Friends" is a bit off colour in my book. Only telling ok. Show us the entry hole please?

Lol, you have to wonder at some of the posts here. Well the poor Russian has my sympathies for being shot and my felicitations for being in a car full of doctors. So according to the update, the spent bullet was found in the car so no exit hole. Spot on Lena! The only one to get it right.
