Police Nab Burglars in Chalong Drug Bust

Thursday, June 3, 2010
PHUKET police have busted a gang of young men who robbed homes at the Land and House development in Chalong. Two members of the gang were arrested early today when officers raided a construction camp.

Colonel Wichit Intharasorn, of Chalong Police Station, said local resident near the camp in Soi Palai, near Phuket Zoo, reported that young men were taking drugs there.

When police arrived at 1am this morning they discovered a group of young men using marijuana and the methamphetamine yah ba. Police held two men, one Thai and the other Burmese.

They were later named as Grisada Mingwan, 22, and Sak. Many Burmese only use one name.

In the men's room they found gold rings, watches, cameras, mobile telephones, drug paraphernalia and breaking equipment.

''The men admitted to stealing from several homes,'' the colonel said. The men were presented to media today. Three other men were reportedly involved and are now being pursued.
