Dear Ed, I know is out of topic, but I wanna to tell you what shocked me the last week, because seems that you has the only newspaper that care Phuket and can speak almost the truth. It's about 2-4 months I didn't pass trought the hill coming from Karon to Rawai. The last 2 night near Kata view point where ther is very nice sea view i was pimressed by the number of fishing boat. The sea wal illuminated like in the day. I counted more than 100 boat (I think about 200) with impressicv light power- I live in Rawai since 10 year and I never see something like that. Some boat was very close to the rocks (about 100 mt) and the first line of boat, like an army with green light, was long all the coast form one side to the other since the eyes can see. Absolutely shocking!! This in not overfishing: this is a slaughter, a "mattanza".. Poor Phuket: the end will come sooner than I ever think..
