PHUKET: Workmen have started demolishing the top floor of the Tiger Discotheque, where four people died in a blaze earlier this year.

The premises are to be rebuilt, Phuketwan was told yesterday, as Phuket's key west coast tourist hub shows signs of change.

Killed in the blaze were British tourist Michael Tzouvanni, 24, French tourist Emmanuel Becard, 30, and two Thai women, Nipawat Sutasorn, 36, and Dongporn Budkor, 32.

Patong will soon be bidding goodbye to 2012 and hoping the new year is a safe and happy one.
