PHUKET: A woman who complains that Phuket police have not pursued a charming thief has posted her own 20,000 baht reward in the hope he will be captured.
Wanwisa Chaichanyut, 31, lost her Samsung Galaxy SII telephone to the charmer when her helped her carry some groceries in Phuket City back in April.
''I know he has continued to strike and I have talked to other women who have been robbed in similar fashion,'' she said.
''He might say, for example, 'May I borrow your telephone, please? I need to make an urgent call and I have run out of credit.'''
She believes the man, dark, good-looking, well dressed and about 155 centimetres tall, preys on women around Central Festival and Big C supermarket.
She believes security camera images of the thief are good enough to determine his identity. Yet police, she says, have not got far with the case.
After four frustrating months, she and her husband, who runs a used car yard, are putting up a 20,000 baht reward for information leading to an arrest.
People with information should contact Lieutenant Yongyut Kongmalai at Phuket City Police Station.
