A fan in the crowd at Surakul Stadium appreciates Phuket's win

FC Phuket Wins 2-1 But Opposition May Protest

Saturday, November 13, 2010
FC PHUKET came back from being one goal down to win a vital game last night - but the win could be overturned. The opposition Loei City manager said that he intends to protest against the victory.

One goal down soon after half time at Surakul Stadium in Phuket City, FC Phuket played it tough and was awarded two penalties, one of which was slotted home by Thawin Bootsombat at the 65-minute mark.

Then came a strongly-struck goal to Nene Sylvestre at the 72-minute mark, giving FC Phuket the victory it so desperately needed.

That lifted FC Phuket from third to second in Group B in the battle to rise to Division One, with only Rayong ahead.

But it was a rough night at the office, with the Loei manager at one stage agitated and on his feet and being warned by security guards to show restraint.

Stricken footballer Camara Ahmed would have delighted in the winning goal, scored by his Ivory Coast countryman. And there was a continuing air of concern for the man who collapsed on-field at Surakul a fortnight ago.

FC Phuket will have to confront Loei City in Loei next weekend, folllowed by a game against Bangkokglass back in Phuket.
