Small boats are being advised not to put to sea and there's an 80 percent chance of rain every day through until Tuesday, a spokesperson for Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said this afternoon.
Patong's canal system, filled in and diverted over decades of abuse, was yet again unable to cope with the regular monsoon downpours.
Canals were also quickly filling up on the other side of the island in Phuket City, with some lowlying areas expected to be underwater soon after sunset.
The DDPM is warning of strong winds and two metre waves, pushed higher in gusts.
''The likelihood of landslips increases the longer the weather continues to be wet,'' the spokesperson said.
''It's the same outlook for Phang Nga and Krabi.''
They say no man is an island but apparently the same does not apply to Patong Hospital.
I can also inform that Chalong Circle is flooded by apprx 50cm as of now.
