SEVERE STORMS are being forecast for Phuket and seven other provinces by the Meteorological Bureau, with the weather likely to remain chancy from later today until Wednesday.

Choppy seas in the Andaman are predicted, with the captains of boats advised to exercise caution and check on conditions before heading out to sea. Construction site managers are being told to guard against the danger of land slips.

The weather is likely to be even worse to Phuket's north in the province of Ranong, as the centre of the storm tracks across peninsular Thailand.

The monsoon season forecast also applies to Chanthaburi, Trat, Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang and Satun.
