PHUKET: The condition of an Australian tourist who fell from a tuk-tuk on Phuket a week ago remains unchanged, Phuketwan learned today.
Zachary Wade Noble, 30, tumbled from the tuk-tuk in Patong while returning to a resort not far from the west coast holiday destination's famous Soi Bangla walking street.
He was treated at Patong Hospital then at Bangkok Hospital Phuket in Phuket City before being transferred by air ambulance to Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok for possible surgery for head injuries.
Mr Noble is believed to have been hanging from the rear of the tuk-tuk at the time he fell, about 9pm last Thursday.
He remains in a coma and is still in an intensive care unit at Bumrungrad International, regarded as probably Thailand's best hospital.
Phuket tuk-tuks, a form of local taxis for which the fares are excessively high, have four wheels, unlike Bangkok's tuk-tuks, which have three-wheels.
Phuket tuk-tuks with side entrances are legal, but tuk-tuks with rear entrances are illegal.

If tuk-tuks with rear entrances are illegal can PW tell us what will have happened to this one and its driver? Why are so many things that are illegal being allowed to continue? I see many tuk-tuk's like this around the island.
I hope Mr Noble recovers. Nice to know he's in the best hospital.
