Nothing in the Phuket resort room indicated a cause of death

Phuket Tourist's Death in Kamala Resort a Mystery

Friday, December 9, 2011
UPDATE

Police believe Veijo Armas Vallius had been dead for about eight hours before being found in his room.

Original Report

PHUKET: A Finnish tourist has been found dead in his room at a Kamala resort on Phuket's west coast.

Police have so far been unable to determine a cause of death of the 51-year-old man. Officers are hoping a medical examination by doctors at Patong Hospital will explain what killed him.

The man's room was closed yesterday morning and at 1pm a maid at the White Resort in Kamala decided to investigate further.

The man was found to be dead on his bed. Captain Somneuk Damkaew, of Kamala station, said that there was no sign of alcohol consumption or any drugs evident in the room.

Phuketwan has the man's name but is withholding publication until relatives have been notified by the Finnish Embassy.

A very useful comment Jeremy - surprised you even bothered. The truth is far from what you posted but my information is second hand (from a TP officer) so cannot be posted here.
