A PHUKET police ''sting'' last night netted a construction foreman who confessed to selling ya bah methamphetamine and was followed by four more drug arrests at a checkpoint.
The sting came in Cherng Talay about 8pm when Hutsa Wayruwanathorn, 33, handed over 20 pills in exchange for 4400 baht offered by a plainclothes police officer.
The checkpoint - at the suggestion of Phuket Police Commander Major General Pekad Tantipong - brought the arrest of a taxi driver, a truck driver and two more construction site workers. The four had a total of 76 ya bah pills in their possession.
The checkpoint was set up on the main road between the Heroines Monument on Thepkasattri Road and the Laguna Phuket turnoff at the Cherng Talay Police Station.
All five suspects are being held pending court appearances.
