POTHOLES . . . pot plants. The residents of Phuket's Moo 3 in Rassada have made the connection and used banana trees and lemongrass to create a green street protest.
The tessaban Rassada council should have repaired the dangerous potholes weeks ago - residents have complained long and hard about them, local community leader Chaiwat Jaijongdamrong, 67, said today.
With more than a thousand people commuting past the spot in Phuket City each day and too many coming off their motorcycles because of the potholes, about 20 local families have been pressing the council to fill in the holes.
''You said you were going to help us,'' Khun Chaiwat said today, directing his comment at the council. ''Now we will grow the banana trees and the lemongrass until you do.''
Stand by to see a bunch of Phuket City council pothole repair workers. Or a bunch of bananas.
