PHUKET: Donors of A negative blood remain desperately needed to help save the life of Frenchman Jerome Heras in a Phuket City hospital.
Nurses at the intensive care unit of Vachira Phuket Hospital said today that supplies from the Phuket Red Cross had been exhausted as 36-year-old Mr Heras fights for life.
He is still in a coma and his survival remains touch and go after the crash on Karon's beach road, on Phuket's popular west coast, that claimed the life of his friend and compatriot, Ludovic Donny.
Mr Donny was killed when the men's hired 400cc motorcycle failed to take the bend in the otherwise straight road outside the Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort and Spa about 3.50am on Monday.
The men had only arrived on Phuket to start their holiday the previous day.
Mr Heras, whose jaw was badly smashed in the crash, remains in a coma and is being drip-fed. He needs at least one unit of blood every day.
Two expats made donations today, a nurse said, but supplies are desperately low.
Calls for details of the donation procedure can be made direct to Vachira Phuket Hospital on 076 361234 ext 1285 or by contacting a friend, Franck Boucholtz of the Tawan bar in Kata.
Blood donations can be made seven days a week, from 8.30am to 8.30pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Police said the pair had travel insurance but were not wearing helmets.

I tried to donate today but as it has been only 9 weeks since my last donation and not the recommended 12 weeks I was turned away from Vachira Hospital. Same story at the regional blood centre.
I would have thought that given the seriousness of this mans condition the rules could have been bent a little but staff at both places although thanked me for offering, wouldn't budge from the 3 month between donations rule.
I tried.
