Phuket Russian Tourist Shaken, Not Stirred, at Breakfast in Patong

Wednesday, February 6, 2013
PHUKET: A Russian tourist who was left to sleep on in the restaurant of a Phuket villa resort overnight was found to be dead at breakfast this morning.

The man, aged 53, had been noted by staff as having a liking for drink during his 10-day stay at Aloha Villa in Patong.

That's why he was left sleeping in a seat about midnight last night. However, come 7am this morning, staff noticed a change in the pallor of the guest.

He fell off his seat when staff tried to rouse him. His body was transferred to Patong Hospital.

Today's death of the Russian man follows the still-puzzling death on Sunday of Evgenii Pozhitkov, 40, at a pool villa in rawai.

Mr Pozhitkov, also known to like a drink, had wounds to the back of his head and face when he was found dead on the kitchen floor by a friend, the other occupant of the two-bedroom pool villa.

No cause of death has been determined so far.
