Phuket Resort Attack: Five Under Arrest, Being Interviewed
By Phuketwan Reporters Friday, May 31, 2013
PHUKET: Police on Phuket are continuing to interview five people under arrest over an attack on the personal bodyguard of a member of Malaysian royalty at a Phuket resort this week.
The story that has emerged so far is that a Malaysian man paid another Malaysian and his Thai wife to organise the attack earlier this week at the Millennium Resort in Patong.
The attack left bodyguard Mond Sobri Said badly beaten and bleeding.
The bodyguard works to protect Tan Sri Tunku Annuar Sultan Badlishah, who is the brother of Malaysia's Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, and chairman of Kedah state's Council of Regency.
Police are still hunting the Malaysian man who allegedly funded the operation and two other Malaysian men who took part.
The motive for the attack remains unclear. The arrested group arrived on Phuket from the Thai-Malaysian border where most of them were arrested.
The bodyguard was among a large group holidaying at the resort at the time of the attack early on Thursday morning. The Malaysian holidaymakers have returned home.

Excuse me with no offence, but are this people involved muslims? Even countries like Sweden has now been affected by violance carried out by muslims. I must say...why is it so that muslims are so often, in the New World Order, connected with violence.

Total nonsense, One Expat 13 years. The riots in Sweden have more to do with the lack of discussion of the issues than anything else. Not that it has any relevance to isolated violence as in this case, but Christians have killed more people in the past 100 years than any other religion.
One Expat 13 years on, yes you are right. The comment in green highlight is so far wrong on all accounts, the green comentator should stop smoking the wacky-weed from down-under and get into the 2013 year. Stop quoting from the last 100 years. The muslims have brought their own wrath upon themselves, look at the rohingya, nobody wants them either.

As long as you are wanted, Duncan B, that's the main thing. Even if you are not wanted here, or anywhere sane conversations are undertaken.
Ahemm....
"Excuse me I am going to offend, but are these people involved westerners? Even countries like Thailand have now been affected by violance carried out by Farangs. I must say...why is it so that Farangs are so often, in Phuket, connected with violence?"
For example:
2 thugs in Patong attacking a guy with an ash tray, and paying the price.
2 more, shooting at random in Patong, and hitting 2 innocent German tourists. Not paying much at all.
Pit Bull!!
The Scandinavian guy with his ex girlfriends body in his wheely bin.
The Hungarian murders, still not resolved.....
Oh...the list goes on and on.

Very sensible response, Mark Thalang. I should add however that 'Farang' is a local cult, not a religion. And that it's quite possible these days to be a Western Muslim. The point is that when it comes to violent crime, religion has little bearing. It's all about individual character. As One Expat probably realises, apologising for your remarks in advance doesn't make them any less offensive if they're total BS from the start.
@Ed.......Being Swedish I must add to your comment, I can't fault you saying lack of discussion is a big part of the violence, but it's not the main reason for the violence. The main reason is the huge wave of refugees being let into Sweden, the Swedes are completely unwilling to integrate with the immigrants which obviously makes it impossible for them, they are put into modern ghettos and almost never get a job interview if they have an unswedish name, this is the root of the violence in Sweden, integration, as long as they are locked out of the Swedish society by the Swedes no amount of discussion is ever going to help. It's more a case of racism than anything else.

We said it was lack of discussion about the issue. Having no first-hand experience, that's about as far as we could be prepared to go. Thank you for your clarification. This is Britain, 1970s. Same lack of discussion. Same resultant discrimination and racism. It happens everywhere the ethics and morals of the prosperous are put to the test. As a British observer said recently of Australia: ''Australia turns out to be a sensational place, albeit one of the most comfortably racist places I've ever been in. They've really settled into their intolerance like an old resentful slipper.'' Sounds like Sweden is the other slipper.
@Ed and another commentor said "quote from Sujatha Singh, India's High Commissioner to Australia "Asked by reporters whether she thought Australia was a racist country, Mrs Singh said she didn't believe it was.
"There have been remarks in the press to that effect - I don't think that Australia is a racist society,'' she said.

Outsiders are always going to be polite. Perhaps you've missed the news in Australia about racism this week. Headlines include: Five experiences with racism in Australia; Player says racism often disguised as larrikinism; Racism abating? A snowflake's chance in hell; More Magpies crowd racism emerges; Curse of Australia's silent pervasive racism etc etc etc.
Do some research, please. You're out of touch with reality.
@ED, and you sir, pick isolated cases, just to prove your point, this a a typical journalist trick, they even teach it at Uni...never let the truth get in the way of a good story

And you sir, use assumptions and cliches instead of thinking. You are an off-the-shelf product, not an original. Readers these days can pick their journalists. How i wish journalists could choose their readers.
Nothing isolated about racism in Australia. It's deeply entrenched. There have been articles in the Australian newspapers all week highlighting Australia's deep racism problem.
Here's the latest, June 2: ''Australian Defence Force personnel, paramedics and a NSW rural firefighter have been caught posting racist and religious slurs on social media pages despite the furore over the racist insults directed at AFL star Adam Goodes.
All three organisations have launched investigations after receiving a stream of complaints that their employees and volunteers have been posting the comments on known race-hate and Facebook pages over the past week. All of the people involved clearly identified themselves on social media pages, some posting pictures of ambulances, firetrucks and themselves in uniform, as well as identifying their work position or organisation.
The postings from soldiers and sailors are the latest in a string of racist scandals to have hit the Australian Defence Force over the past decade, including inflammatory remarks by serving personnel in Afghanistan, soldiers dressing like the Ku Klux Klan and racist and sexist Facebook groups.''
Did you go to uni, or just make some more assumptions? Life is more interesting and provides a better education.

You say your friends have moved on from journalism, Phuket_IOC. Let me suggest you do the same.
@ED..what a WEAK kneed reply, couldn't post it, but had to have the last say. I did notice you could not argue against what I said, to I assume the truth hurts too much.

Generalised insults of the kind you make are not tolerated here and I don't have the time to respond to valueless opinions. You have nothing to add, Phuket_IOC. It's all bile and bluster.
