Phuket 'Black Water' Pollution Shocks Tourists at Karon Beach
By Chutima Sidasathian Monday, February 24, 2014
PHUKET: Tourists on Phuket's once-pristine Karon beach were shocked today to find ''black'' water polluting the sand and the foreshore.
Community leader Winai Chidcheaw blamed a new resort development and said that there were no controls and no enforcement of polluters.
''The bad water problem on Phuket hasn't been fixed,'' he said. ''People are entitled to ask why local municipalities fail to do their job.''
The pollution is in the canal near the Centara Grand but another resort is said to be to blame.

"The bad water problem on Phuket hasn't been fixed,'' he said. ''People are entitled to ask why local municipalities fail to do their job.'' !! Really - he doesnt know the answer to that question? The answer is simple - incompetent and corrupt.

"said that there were no controls and no enforcement of polluters."...
Sherlock.
Corruption is worse than prostitution. The latter might endanger the morals of an individual, the former invariably endangers the morals of the entire country.

The same happens at at the south end of Naiharn Beach where the Marine Seafood Restaurant pumps raw sewage into the lagoon outflow every night. The local council has been aware of this for a year now but chooses to do nothing. One can only imagine why.

If I knew of a hotel or restaurant polluting, I'd give it a terrible TripAdvisor review/rating. Everyone can do this, it's easy, and at the least it will provoke a reply from the establishments owner

Dave the Doomsayer strikes again: never any sign of hope in your bleak world, is there?
for what? a couple of thousand extra baht? you get what you get, no excuses and no regret. Fortunately tourism number tick ever upward with travelers from countries where pollution is no big deal. You ask for the quality tourist, but you'll get the quantity tourist. Good luck Phuket.

This website is obviously selecting what to publish! I made a comment regarding polluted water at Kata Beach. It did not find the way to this page.
So I do not give much for this website since obviously it is the editor who find what he likes or not to publish. You have a great day! (Tourist in Kata Beach)
